Sad news here. We’ve just been informed that a Continental pilot died in flight from natural causes. He was 61 years old and served as a Continental pilot for 21 years. The flight has two other pilots now in control on the jouney from Brussels, and is expected to land in Newark soon. We’ll keep you updated.

UPDATE: Continental flight 61 had two first officers aboard, one of whom I believe was an additional relief pilot. The two first officers flew the plane (not a passenger). The reserve crew handled the emergency landing made in Newark. The flight had 247 passengers.
