Flipping through Vanity Fair’s August issue, I read that the Santa Monica estate of Marion Davies, former actress and paramour of William Randolph Hearst, has been turned into a beach club.

Now called the Annenberg Community Beach House, it requires nothing more than a reservation. And it almost makes me wish I had an excuse to go out to Los Angeles. My sister and I have degrees from Annenberg, one from each coast (J. Claire is also an Annenberg grad), so forgive me if I feel some sort of connection. But you can’t deny that it looks pretty nice for a public space:
